Carlisle has introduced bike lanes in order to protect the bicyclists. Already, hardy enthusiasts have been seen braving the unpredictable, generally wet, weather and with summer rolling in, more are sure to follow.

The project is on-track to be completed by June 28, but until then, motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists are urged to remember that it is still an active construction zone.

"I think the concept is good, but I'm concerned with how it was done," Cinda Cole Shannon, vice president of Cole's Bicycles, said.

"I've heard mixed reviews. The weather hasn't co-operated," enough that many cyclists have been able to take advantage of the new lanes, she added.
